When I lost my job last spring, I considered letting my life insurance go and then I would not have that bill. I did not do it and was so glad that I found a job about two months later that allowed me to get back on my feet. I had let my cell phone go, my house phone, and my cable. I figured that those were things that I did not really need. I knew that if something happened to me though, my wife and kids would be taken care of since I had opted to keep the life insurance.

Shortly after I got my new job, we got our cell phones, house phone and cable all turned back on. I also went to my insurance company and purchased additional no exam life insurance just because I saw how hard it was for those two months when I did not have a job and for the few months after I found another one. I cannot imagine how hard it would be for my wife if I was suddenly not here to provide for her and the kids.

I have also sat down with my attorney along with my wife and we have planned out everything in the event something happened to either of us, or even both of us. Our kids will be taken care of and not have to worry about a thing. Not having a job for a couple of months really puts your life into perspective.
