Helping my Mom out
Home and Garden June 1st, 2010My mom just moved down south for she felt that she could not stand the harsh cold winters of the north. She purchased a house down in Florida and invited me to come and visit her. Another purpose of the visit was to help her decorate her new home. Being in a new place where the sun shines almost all the months of the year, it is a big adjustment for my mom so I gladly accepted her invitation.
One of her concerns was the heat which really takes quite a while to get used to. So she had air conditioners installed. She had it turned on almost the whole day so you can just imagine the shock she got when she received her electricity bill. I offered to do some research on how she could save and other options that she had. I read about canopies and how it helps in shielding away the sun’s rays.
So off we were to look for a supplier that installs fixed canopy for residential buildings. Luckily, I stumbled on a website that gives a free estimate on how much it would cost to install one. I filled out their form and waited for a reply which we got. We visited their shop too to choose what design and color we would want for my mom’s new home. Now, she does not turn on her air conditioning that often for she can open her windows to let the gentle breezes cool the house.
